Cons: You have to read 11 ethnographies, 1 book a week. The whole class is discussion and he has no structure on grading. You pick 4 books to write an 8 page paper on (no structure what the paper should be about) and you have to lead 2 of the class discussions in groups- my class meets once a week for 3 hours and the discussion has to be this long. Your grade is passed on these papers and your participation.
Only taking the class for a degree requirement and know nothing about Africa. If you have never learned anything about Africa, don't take this class or you will be lost in all the class discussions.
